Brian or fondly known as Shuttertalk online developed the love for photography at the tender age of 16. His love for photography turned professional when he was offered a position as a news photographer at Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press Bhd, Penang in 1997.
As a young man with big dream, Brian believes the world is his oyster. After 2 years of working comfortably in his hometown, Penang, Brian decided to venture out of and hit for the big city. “The best thing about being young is that you’re always ready to take up the challenge in order to pursue your dreams.”
He joined The Star in year 2000 where he received most of his photojournalism training and the rest they say is history.
Other than his day job as a photojournalist, Brian loves to photograph the lighter side of life. He loves people-watching and photographing human expressions. “Capturing human expressions and sharing their emotions with others is truly a magical process.”
The nickname “Shuttertalk” derives from his years of experience behind the lens. “The eyes won’t be able to speak to your heart if there’s only one witness. Why not share the beauty with the world?”
Furthermore, being chosen as an official photographer on a couple’s big day also gives him a chance to witness the union of 2 souls and families. “The big day is normally filled with love and happiness, with a tinge of sadness and frustration.” And being able to document the beginning of a new life, a new adventure and share their story are the things that make life even more fulfilling.
However, that’s not all, Brian would like to end this intro with “…but life’s even more fulfilling when you spend it with the one you love, surround by great food!”
